Refreshing Mangoladas

They say if you are given lemons - make lemonade. What if you have tons of mangoes - make mangoladas!

This drink came about a couple of years ago when we were out by the pool and wanted something refreshing. My husband went in to make us a drink. When he went into the freezer we had many packages of mangoes and decided to use them and this drink was created - Mangoladas

While my daughter and her friend were visiting for Easter, she wanted these. We had take out from the Outback and these luscious and refreshing mangoladas. As we sat down to eat, she told me to blog about them, therefore not the greatest images.

The recipe is a little tricky since my husband just "wings it". He actually wasn't sure he wanted to give it up. After all it is his creation.

He uses pina colada frozen mix. Add one can to your blender.

We have a Ninja that crushes ice well. This blender is awesome.  You can also use a regular blender, just make sure you can crush ice. A margarita blender would also work well.

Next add about 1/2 can (pina colada can)of Vodka. You could use gin or rum as well. He prefers Vodka.

He uses one bag of frozen mangoes. You  can also use fresh ones - just cut them into chunks. probably about 2-3 large ones. The frozen is nice since you can have them on hand.

Next add ice. This is the tricky part since he adds some ice and blends and then keeps adding until he gets the right smooth consistency. When he is done, the blender is filled between the 8 & 9 cup line.

This will make around 5-6 frozen servings, depending on the size of your glasses.

Mine are from Pier One Imports  - so  festive!

Please let me know if you try them or you have any questions.    You will not be disappointed in this drink!

  2. Sounds really good. I don't drink alcohol, so I'm wondering if sprite of ginger ale would work. Love the glasses! Thank you for sharing at What We Accomplished Wednesdays. Have a great week!

    Blessings,
